Winter 2005 y r Panhandle Newsletter News & Notes: From Panhandle Premium Founder Mark Grim Choice Holiday greetings. It seems that it is getting more difficult each year to give traditional greetings like Merry Christmas or Happy Hanukkah and just leave it at that. For those who may be keeping track, we also wish all a Happy Kwanza, Ramadan, Chinese New Year, etc. etc. We hope we covered just about everyone, but to those in the less than .001 percent of the population either that we missed or that may be offended or feel left out, we wish you a blessed Holiday season as well.
This year we are offering gift wrapping on all full box purchases. Please just select the wrapping paper of your choice and we can have most items at your door just 2-3 days from processing. Please note that even Priority Mail may be slower at this time of the year. You might calculate a few extra days in your shipping time. However, in most cases, we have had great success with Priority Shipping. You can once again complete a lot of your holiday shopping without leaving home and fighting that traffic. SPECIALS We are continuing to offer Priority Shipping for $2.95 on all regular candy bar orders of 48 bars or less. This option is simple to select when you order, just make sure you order 48 bars or less when ordering and make the proper shipping selection. It usually ends up costing less than Ground Shipping. We are still filling as many special orders as we can (that is, items that are not listed in our Internet store). Let us know if there is a special product from Canada that you would like. (Please note, there is generally a longer waiting time and a minimum order of $75 for special orders. We also require that you give us the name and address of the manufacturer.) ORIGINS OF CHOCOLATE (IT'S LIKE GOLD) In
a recent conversation I had with a CBP agent, he pointed out that chocolate
was actually used as currency in some ancient civilizations (for example, the
Aztecs).
According to website called Gourmed: "Chocolate has
always been associated with gold, possibly originating from Montezuma’s ritual
of drinking chocolate from a golden goblet, which, immediately after use, was
thrown into the lake beside his palace. The lake turned out to be quite
literally a gold mine for the Spanish after the conquest. Evidence of the
association with gold can still be seen today with chocolate manufacturers,
especially the Swiss, selling fake gold bars and chocolate coins encased in gold
wrapping." Quoting the Ulitmate Encyclopedia of Chocolate. See this link for more. Winter drawing winner...
Dayna Bruce wins Winter drawing! Congratulations to Dayna Bruce of Scottsdale, Arizona for winning our Winter drawing for 24 candy bars. Dayna selected 8 Crunchies, 8 Smarties and 8 Coffee Crisps, which we shipped via Priority Mail. She made the following comments after finding out she won. Thank you Panhandle Premium! Very exciting, as I am a lover
wonderful treats from our northern neighbors. I sent some of my
favorite candies that I raved about to my friend, and was entered into this
fabulous contest! I myself am Canadian, but currently live in Scottsdale,
Arizona, so the drive to get a yummy Crunchie bar or handful of Smarties is very
far! Since I won 24 free bars of delicious yummy candy....I
would like to split it up according to my favorites...from most delicious
to still favorite: 8 Crunchie Bars (yum, my mouth is all ready
watering!), 8 Smarties, and 8 Coffee Crisps! Thanks again, Panhandle
Premium! Thanks and see you next time. © 1999-2005 Panhandle Premium. All Rights Reserved. |
