Believe it or not, it's time again to make sure the antifreeze is strong enough for another season, close the insulated windows, and dig out our thicker clothing. It's also time to start thinking about the Harvest/Halloween season. We are once again ready for your candy needs during this season with both Nestle and Cadbury mini bars. The Nestle version includes Coffee Crisp, Smarties, Aero and Kit Kat (remember, these are guaranteed peanut-free). The Cadbury selection includes Wunderbar, Caramilk, Crunchie, Crispy Crunch, and Dairy Milk. All you need to do is click on the mini-bars links below or to the left and you can easily place your order.

We are planning to expand our wholesale business as much as possible. Please watch for updates as we will also include premium selections from other parts of the world as well in the near future. At first, we may not be able to provide Priority Shipping with these new offerings. However, we will continue to offer your favorite Canadian selections with prompt shipping as we always have. Remember, the more you buy, the greater your savings.

Examples of some of the new products we plan to carry are the Australian Violet Crumble bar and the Italian-style Perugina chocolate selections.

Just so you know, this is not an easy venture to pull off. However, you can rest assured that we import our Canadian products through US Customs (CBP). It is rare that we ship a parcel across the border (sometimes, however, it is unavoidable). We have been doing it this way since October of 1999, almost six years.

We are still filling as many special orders as we can (that is, items that are not listed in our Internet store). Let us know if there is a special product from Canada that you would like. (Please note, there is generally a longer waiting time and a minimum order of $75 for special orders. We also require that you give us the name and address of the manufacturer.)

WINTERIZATION TIPS

For those of us who live in the more frigid regions, we offer some tips. Air leakage accounts for about 30 percent of heating expenses.

Use caulk or expanding spray foam to seal around pipes and wires that lead from the attic or crawl space into the home. Install gaskets in outlets and switches on outside walls to prevent air leakage.
Caulk cracks around window and door moldings, and place weather-stripping around doorframes and at the top and bottom of window sashes.
Caulk cracks around masonry fireplaces and keep the damper closed when the fireplace is not in use.
Install weather-stripping and insulate attic doors and pull-downs. Check the attic insulation. If it is sparse or badly settled, consider blowing in more to bring it up to a minimum of R-30.
If you have a crawl space, make sure the vents are closed and you have a good vapor barrier (at least 6-mil polyethylene) on the ground. If you don't have insulation in the floor, consider adding R-19 insulation batts.
